Sorry, no new recipe tonight, just good ole spaghetti, meatballs, salad, and garlic bread over here! After some crazy Olympic country meals, it's nice to have a relaxing week. Don't worry, though, I'll be back tomorrow with a Wicked Cheap Wednesday meal:)
So this week I'm thinking about what "stuff" I wish I either could make, or could make better:
1. sushi!
2. mashed potatoes - I just can't get them right! What would be even better is garlic mashed potatoes like at TGI Friday's!
3. chocolate mousse - how the heck do you separate the whites and yolks from eggs correctly??
What do you wish you could make in general or better? Also, when you have frozen leftovers, like ground pork, turkey, etc, what are your best go-to recipes when you're trying to use up what's in the freezer??
I'm off to clean out my scrapbooking tote - it's a disaster after Croptopia this weekend! See you tomorrow night! I also have to get some pictures of my new pages up - all in good time:)
Oh! Who's psyched about the dwts new lineup? What about Jake and Vienna? Sorry, tv blogging;)

Just good ol spaghetti and meatballs sounds pretty darn good to me.
Honestly, I wish I could bake better. I would love to learn to bake breads. As for the leftover meat in my freezer, I find making stews and soups works well for me.
I could help you with the mashed potatoes, incl. garlic ones (just had them last weekend), and also egg separation.
I wish I could make sushi too, since it is my favorite meal! I use my hand to separate egg whites from the yolk. I crack it into my hand and slightly separate my fingers to release the white into a small bowl. Garlic-garlic from Tastefully Simple is really good in mashed potatoes. Also try adding a little cream cheese to make them extra tasty!
I'm with Velva, bring on the spaghetti and meatballs.
I used to have mashed potatoes issues until I used the Gourmet cookbook method. I have it at home, but online I can only seem to find it reprinted here:

And I wish I could bake better, but I know I just need practice!
We finally got the hang of mashed potatoes. My husband bought us a potato "ricer" to make mashed potatoes and it has made all the difference.
